the parseltongue hat
you know, it can get pretty cold out here at hogwarts! ♥
this hat will not only help you understand snakes,
it will encourage better relationships with them!
i ssssswear! :)
note: alpaca suri merino is an extremely “oozy” fiber. if you are using another fiber, you might consider using a worsted weight yarn. it seems that so far the ravelry projects that have used worsted weight and size US 9 needle have had great success.
(i promise mine is dk and it fits perfectly… but having seen a few that have worked out too small, please be aware that i can stretch mine out to kingdom come! … from 7.5” at base resting flat to 11.5”)
gauge for hat:
cast on 28
row 1: (P2, C6F, C6B) repeat
row 2: (K2, P12) repeat
row 3: (P2, K12) repeat
row 4: (K2, P12) repeat
row 5: (P2, K12) repeat
row 6: (K2, P12) repeat
repeat rows 1-6 for just over 4 inches to get gauge.
relaxed work should be 4 inches wide (omitting your first P2 border) ie: 26 stitches = 4 inches
however, if you cant stretch it out easily to get 16 sts in 4 inches, get some bigger wool :)
