Ideal for variegated and hand-painted yarns, the shawl is knit with two threads—one a brightly colored and variegated sock yarn and the other a light-weight mohair/silk blend in a solid, complementary color. The combination subtly modulates the variegation and provides a soft halo effect to the finished garment.

The lace pattern, which is knit on the right side only, is easy to follow and memorize. Most knitters are unlikely to need a lifeline. The garment is knit flat and blocked before finishing with a decorative join.
