This image of the fire red bird came to me this fall, as the days grew darker and colder, remembering Norway and my life there above the arctic circle. The contrasts in the landscape, the white snow as a background and the glowing sun as it first appears along the edge of the landscape in early February, after 3 months of darkness serves as the palette idea in this pattern.
