Meet “The Pine Barrens Pillow Pattern”. I’ve decided to name each of my pieces after a Weird NJ site. If you’re from New Jersey, then it’s likely that you know what this is! Weird NJ is “Your Travel Guide to New Jersey’s Local Legends and Best Kept Secrets.” “The Pine Barrens Pillow Pattern” is named after the Pine Barrens located in south New Jersey. According to folklore, this is where the Jersey Devil lives. Back in 1735, it is said that Mother Leeds (who lived in the Pine Barrens) became pregnant with her thirteenth child. Since her husband neglected her and all of their children, she prayed for this last child to be the devil. Leeds was cursed at this point and after she gave birth, the baby turned into a beast who killed her and most of her family in sight. Today people are still reporting sightings of this Jersey Devil in and around the Pine Barrens.
