The Pluma (Spanish for feather) Beanie is a fun, quick and rhythmic cable knit that works up quickly and doesn’t require much concentration. In other words, it’s great for binge-watching! Worked in the round on circular needles, pattern includes instructions for 4 weights and results in a one-size-fits-most teen/adult hat that can easily be adapted by working less or more repeats. Using mainly knit, purl, left and right twist stitches, this beanie knits up quickly, especially with bulky and super bulky yarn. It’s a perfect candidate for market prep. Not to mention, it results in a wonderfully textured, squishy cable hat that will appeal to just about anyone because of its unisex appeal! As a bonus, beanie looks great with or without a pompom because of the careful detail in the crown, so no pom required!

Pattern is knit in the round and written in US terms for worsted, light bulky, bulky/chunky and super bulky weight yarn. It includes instructions for single and folded brim options. Charts, tables and written instructions are also included, making this a very easy pattern to follow.

One size fits most teen-adults. Beanie fits approximately 18-22” head circumference. Pattern is also easily adapted for other sizes because of the simple 14 or 18-stitch repeat that is worked throughout body and crown decrease. Simply work more or less repeats to change size.

Skill level:
Moderately easy pattern that you make yourself. Suitable for knitters with only a little experience. The bulkier the yarn, the quicker the knit. Begin with the bulky or super bulky versions and you will have this pattern down in no time at all. The flow and rhythm are a treat!

Light bulky - 6/6.5 mm (US 10/10.5) circular needles; 92.5 m/101 yd (114.5 m/125 yd)
Bulky/chunky - 6.5/8 mm (US 10.5/11) circular needles; 80.5 m/88 yd (folded brim not recommended)
Super bulky - 9/10 mm (US 13/15) circular needles; 58.5 m/64 yd (folded brim not recommended)
