The Potting Shed Cat & Kittens
Discovered by Mrs. Morgan one afternoon while she was repotting some young plants -- this mother cat and her newly born kittens could barely be seen in the dim lighting beneath the lowest shelf in the corner of the potting shed.
Work on the mother cat begins with the front legs which are extended above her head in a surrendering pose. The slight curve to her back is created with a series of short rows and straight rounds. And the most wonderful surprise is that her kittens (up to four of them) will fit inside her belly through an entrance between her back legs. Mammary glands are embroidered with pink yarn; nipples are created with French knots.
Mother cat is 20 inches long (not including tail), and 6 inches wide (not including legs). The newborn kittens are 4.5 inches long (not including tail), and 1.5 inches wide (not including legs) when knit with recommended yarn weight and needle size.
