The design I had in mind for this cap when I first picked up my knitting needles is absolutely nothing like the outcome-- how very like Shakespeare’s beloved Puck from A Midsummer Night’s Dream. This cap is knit from the brim to the crown, based in a knit through the back loop rib pattern. Knot stitches add bubble-like loops to the cap with intermittent spacing. I hope you enjoy the Puck-like journey this cap embodies; I just couldn’t resist re-visiting this sprite and dedicating this little and fun knit to the bard and his jester friend.

Sizes
Constructed with dense ribbing, this is a very stretchy cap that adapts to many head circumferences. To adapt to smaller/bigger heads, we will be adjusting the finished cap height. Both caps shown are size 2 on 23”/ 85.4 cm head circumference.

OR
Any sport weight, very soft yarn. I find it best to not have an itchy head while wearing a cap or you’ll never want to wear it! Also not a bad idea to account for wash-ability-- know who you’re knitting for and the level of care required.

“If we shadows have offended, Think but this, and all is mended, That you have but slumber’d here While these visions did appear. And this weak and idle theme, No more yielding but a dream, Gentles, do not reprehend: if you pardon, we will mend: And, as I am an honest Puck, If we have unearned luck Now to ‘scape the serpent’s tongue, We will make amends ere long; Else the Puck a liar call; So, good night unto you all. Give me your hands, if we be friends, And Robin shall restore amends.”
