The Pumpkin Patch
This pattern was inspired by my sister, Christina! She wanted me to crochet pumpkins and call them “The Pumpkin Patch” so here we are!
I like having a lot of information about a pattern before I purchase it, so here is everything but the actual patterns, copy and pasted straight from the PDF itself!
This pattern covers 4 pumpkins, 3 stems, 2 leaves, and 2 vines. You can follow this pattern exactly or combine the different pumpkins, stems, leaves, and vines to create your own unique pumpkin!
Skill Level: Experienced Beginner. These are all basic stitches. The hardest part is probably the drawstring closure, which isn’t really that hard.
Supplies Yarns Used: One skein each unless otherwise noted Knit and Crochet Spark yarn in the color Orange Gold Bernat Blanket yarn in the color Mustard Big Twist Soft yarn in the color Gold Buttercream Luxe Craft Alpaca yarn in the color Rust (2 skeins) Red Heart Super Saver yarn in the colors Café Latte and Tea Leaf
Hooks: 5 mm 5.5 mm 8 mm 9 mm Scissors Yarn Needle Stitch Markers Burlap Ribbon Polyfill (I used almost a whole 32 oz bag.) Hot Glue/Hot Glue Gun or Needle and Thread Chopstick or Pencil (to helps stuff stems, optional) Gauge: Unimportant for this project. I do crochet tight, so you may want to adjust your hook size accordingly. Make sure your holes are tight enough that stuffing won’t fall out.
Stitches/Terms/Techniques Used: Make sure you’re familiar with these before you begin:
Single crochet, half double crochet, back loop only, slip stitch, double crochet, chain, magic circle, single crochet increase, single crochet decrease, working in the round, and making a drawstring closure.
Notes:
Turning chains do not count as stitches.
Anything between asterisks () means you repeat it until the end of that row/round.4 sc, inc* means to do 4 single crochets (one in each stitch) and then increase. Repeat this until the end of that round. sc around means to do single crochets for the whole round, dec around means to decrease the entire round.
I write “in the next stitch:” followed by instructions when you work multiple stitches into one stitch.
There will occasionally be measurements given (in inches) to help you size the pumpkin like mine, but feel free to make yours whatever size you want!
You really want to be careful not to overstuff anything Remember pumpkins are a part of nature and therefore not flawless. It’s okay if you make a small mistake, it’ll make your pumpkin more unique and realistic.
The number of leaves and vines you make is completely up to you. Use none, use 100, use something in between.
It’s up to you whether you want to sew or hot glue your pieces on.
Thank you for considering my pattern. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out!
