The Quay Shawlette
This shawlette is inspired by Exeter Quay, with its cobbled street and eclectic shops hidden in archways.
It is a sideways knit, designed to finish in a triangular sail shape.
Skill Level – Intermediate
Yarn – Sara’s Texture Crafts Standard Sock, which is a 4ply fingering weight (75% Superwash Merino, 25% Nylon, 100g at 425m). I used most of my skein, but you can get away with 400m.
Needles – 4mm/US 6
Finished Measurements – 41.5”/106cm along top shawl edge, 20.5”/52cm along short stockinette and eyelet edge and 32.5”82.5cm along the garter edge.
My gauge is;
on the stockinette - 6sts/8rows per inch
on the garter - 6.5/7.5 rows per inch
… after a light block.**
For those wishing to make yarn substitutions, or play with the way the pattern works in order to accommodate larger or smaller yardage I have measured the lightly blocked shortest triangle edge. This is the part of the pattern that will be where you need to make your changes.
The shortest triangle measures 20.5 inches in total…
From cast on to end of first eyelet panel - 6 inches
From cast on to end of second eyelet panel - 11 1/4 inches
From cast on to end of third eyelet panel - 19 inches**
