The Rambler
This shallow crescent shaped lace shawl is knitted starting with the outer border & then working the crescent shape.
Starting with a provisional cast on, the wide leafy lace border is knitted in one continuous length of fabric with a yarn over selvedge on one edge and a decorative serrated edge on the other.
The lace stitches are worked on one side only (odd rows).
After the wide border is completed, stitches for the crescent short row shaping are picked up from the yarn over selvedge and worked in garter rows.
To finish, all the live stitches at both ends of the lace border are placed back onto their respective ends of the circular needle either side of the short row shaping stitches and then bound off in one continuous length using an iCord bind off.
This is my first lace and crescent shawl design, I hope you enjoy knitting it
She has a wingspan of 46” from outer border edge to outer border edge, about 11.5” wide at her deepest, the lace border is roughly 8.5” wide relaxed after blocking.
Additional notes are included in pattern for increasing the size of the shawl
