The Riebeek-Kasteel Weekend Block
The Riebeek-Kasteel Weekend Block is another in a series of large floral-themed, super-textured crochet blocks inspired by my beloved country, South Africa.
This pattern includes a 24”/60cm square frontispiece and an 8” /20cm square. These 24” /60cm and 8”/20cm blocks were designed to be multi-functional. They can be used as a single central panel or repeats for a blanket of any size. Four 24”/60cm repeats will make a baby blanket, eight repeats, a lapghan or throw, and ten or more repeats will get you a striking large blanket!
The block doubles up as a large cushion cover. Or folded envelope style, a smaller cushion cover that looks completely different! The smaller 8”/20cm squares were designed as backing for a large cushion. Nine small squares ( including the border ) will cover the back but can also be used inter-mixed with the large block to create a unique afghan. If you are passionate about textured, 3D crochet then these blocks will definitely do the trick.
