The Root Children
Special Offer: Buy 3 patterns for $4.95! No coupon needed. Thank you.
Years ago at my son’s Waldorf preschool, I fell in love with peg dolls. Then sadly I realized how fiddly it was to knit their tiny clothes. So I set myself to re-designing them-even getting rid of the wooden peg doll altogether! Now after many years and with much joy I have knitter-friendly peg dolls.
When the winter is at its deepest I like to read ‘The Story of the Root Children’ by Sibylle von Olfers. I love to imagine the Root Children hibernating underground, nestled amongst the roots. Like them I dream of the Spring and when it finally arrives I too emerge from my Winter slumber ready to play. I have used these dolls for puppet shows and they’ve worked great.
