A fun take on traditional color-blocking, the Rule of Thirds Sweater is an intarsia knit perfect for a gradient or statement color combo. It’s got gently tapered sleeves and a thick crewneck, and it’s worked up in hyper-fluffy yarn.

This sweater is knitted in a mixture of flat panels and working in the round. We begin by casting on for the body panel hem before starting the main intarsia pattern and working our way up through some neckline shaping. We’ll repeat this for a second panel. From there, we’ll seam the shoulders and pick up stitches for a ribbed collar. From there, it’s ~sleeve island, bb~! We’ll shape the tapered sleeves with simple, routine decreases that are nice and easy to keep track of! Fast forward a handful of repeats, and we’ve reached our breezy ribbed cuffs, designed to fit loosely over the wrists. At some point, you’ll seam down the sides of the body, too. And there you have it!

Any bulky-weight yarn will work here! You’ll need 4-10 skeins total at 150 yards apiece depending on size. All yarn and notion information can be found in the pattern!
