The Runaway Shawl
The Runaway Shawl was created in my favorite knitting spot, Sanibel Island, Florida.
This shawl is so much fun to knit! The construction is very simple and easy to memorize.
2 colors are needed and typically the Contrasting Color will be a little over half of what you need of the Main Color. The too picture shown to the left is KnitCircus Greatest of Ease 100 gr Fingering (2 skeins) in Tumbleweed Semi Solid. Using 1 gradient cake of Greatest of Ease 100gr in the color Christoper Robin. On the actual pattern download, two skeins of Madeline Tosh Merino Light, Berlin and skein of Madeline Tosh Merino Light, Scout. A total of 1200 yards with enough left to make tassels for the 3 points.
The black sample shown to the left is using Madtosh TML color onyx 2 skeins and 1 skein of TML 5 letter Word.
The other picture shown uses the Farmer’s Daughter Recollect, Sport Weight. 4 skeins of the color Natural and 2 skeins of Pretty Shield for a total of 1110, with again, enough left over for tassels.
If you are a tight knitter, you might want to go up to a 7 for the sport weight so that you can maintain a nice drape to the finished fabric.
The gauge shown is with fingering weight and measured after blocking.
You can make this shawl as large as you want.. just continue with the repeats and add more yarn.
This Shawl is named ‘Runaway’ because i decided to sell my Knit Shop, DMarie Knit and Fiber to travel the USA with my husband, in our truck, pulling a camper and two precious Shelties.. Our adventure starts in September of 2021. I hope to be blogging about our travels and visiting local Independent Dyers and Knit shops! So excited for the future and the joy of traveling and meeting new people! Follow me on my blog found at danafehrenbachdesigns.com.. The website is a work in progress right now but hope to have it fully up by the end of August 2021..
