She is ready to keep you warm on a Wild West horseback ride, or maybe just cute and stylish for a Saturday night on the town! The Rustic Cowl is a classic half granny square, supersized and sewn together at the corners. It is a perfect project for an advanced beginner or a something quick to
whip up for an experienced crocheter.

I created this pattern to use my very first skein of handspun 2-ply yarn (the photos with the green cowl). My yarn was pretty lumpy, so I wanted something that took advantage of all those twists and turns. I decided to work up The Rustic Cowl using a few other kinds of easy-to-find yarn and really loved how it turned out with Lion Brand Homespun (the photos with the purple cowl). I think the name of that yarn says it all and it is an excellent match for this design.
