The Scrap Bag
Sizes: S(M)L
Measurements:
Approx. 9 cm X 10 cm (13 cm x 15 cm) 18 cm x 21 cm
Yarn: fingering + lace held together
I have not taken approximate yarn measurements, but it takes very, very little (for the smallest size), thus why it has been dubbed the “Scrap Bag.” The larger sizes will require more yardage.
The gray bag is knitted in a size small with Isager Silk Mohair in the color “3S” and Isager Alpaca 2 in the color “E2S”. The two yarns are held together throughout the entire project, including the drawstrings.
The beige bag is a size S worked with Drops brushed alpaca silk and baby merino both in light beige held together. The drawstring is a ribbon.
Blue version by @snug_barcelona
Gauge: 25 sts x 35 rows = 10 cm X 10 cm (4 in X 4 in) in stockinette stitch
Needles:
3.0 mm (US 2.5) // 80 cm or 100 cm needles (32 inches or 40 inches) to use the Magic Loop method.
Construction:
The Scrap Bag is worked seamlessly from the bottom-up in the round until the body of the bag is completed. The stitches are then divided evenly into two sections, and a folded hem is worked on both sides of the bag. Finally, simple crochet drawstrings are created and inserted through the folded hems to create a closure.
You may also choose to knit i-cord drawstrings for the larger bags. Ribbon or any other drawstring alternative may be used as well for drawstrings.
This bag is highly customizable. You can cast on as few or many stitches as you like. You can knit the bag as large or small as you like, so long as the drawstring mechanism is still functional.
