The Scream

The choosing of a favourite work of art is very subjective and I suspect that the image that this piece of work was inspired by would not be most people’s first choice. The Scream, by Edvard Munch, is, almost by definition, a rather disturbing picture both because of its content and because of the style of painting. It is the surreal style of the painting that I was trying to capture in this illusion knit.
The piece measures approximately 86cm (34”) wide by 114cm (45”) high using DK yarn and 3.25mm needles and takes approximately 800 metres of each of two contrasting colours of yarn. It has been designed to be viewed from the side so is suited to use as a wall hanging, bed cover or throw.
The pattern includes several versions of the chart including one for mobile devices where you can see 20 ridges at a time and always see the numbers underneath.
The last image is an animation.
