A textured lace sock
Top down with a standard stockinette heel flap and rounded toe.
The stitch pattern reminded me of the top of classic chess
pieces. I thought it would be more interesting than squares ;-)

Errata:
The instruction for the setup for the heel are incorrect.
I will get the pattern amended, but in the meantime thanks to Zoei for the correction which you can find on post 32 of this thread.
