The Shablam! Cowl is a high impact piece with embroidery detail. Worked from bottom up, it includes folded brims, with a neat little purl edge to give a crisp finish.

The embroidery section is optional but really makes the piece pop and I have included a map for the design. You only need to buff up on the backstitch, no expertise in embroidery needed!

Any scrap DK yarn will work for the embroidery detail - I used a cotton DK that was knocking around in my stash. Go bright and bold with your colour choices!

YARN

Featured Yarn:
De Rerum Natura - Gilliat.
Aran/Worsted 10 ply
(100% Merino wool)
250 m (273 yd) / 100 g.

Plume (Color A):
250 m (273 yd) - I used just under a 100 g ball as sold

Potimarron (Color B):
Approx. 50 g. I used just under half of the ball. I used the rest for some mittens - it’s great for winter knits!

Scrap DK Yarn (embroidery)
Two colours - I chose red and
yellow in a DK cotton.

GAUGE
Measurements taken after
blocking. Gauge Isn’t hugely important for this cowl, providing it’s not wildly out as it’s a generous size.

Colourwork pattern, worked in the round:
22 sts × 28 rnds = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 “)

Stockinette stitch worked in the round (Brim):
24 STS x 28 = 10 x 10 CM (4 x 4 “)
