The Shawl Collar
The two sides of the The Shawl Collar are knit separately, shaped with increases and then short rows. The two sides are joined together seamlessly. Wear as a shawl, collar, and hood.Pattern includes 7 mini video classes for the special techniques used: the Crochet Chain Provisional Cast On, the I-Cord Cast On, the I-Cord Selvedge, Brioche Stitch, the Yarn Over increase, Garter Short Rows, and Kitchener Stitch.
Materials
· 7 skeins of Purl Soho Gentle Giant (100% Merino Wool; 48
yards/125 grams) or 336 yards of bulky weight yarn. Photographed in Winter Bark, Heather.
· US 15 circular needles, 24” long
· US 15 double pointed needles
· US 17 circular needles, 24” long
· US N15 crochet hook
· Large stitch markers
· Bulky weight scrap yarn
Measurements
· Approximately 27” along center back
· Approximately 44” wing span.
Gauge
7 stitches and 10 rows = 4” over Garter Stitch using US 17 needle or size needed to obtain gauge.
