The Sheila check beanie is perfect for winter! It is knit in traditional Fair Isle style. With no more than four stitches between colors, the simple pattern makes this a good first color work project. The double stranded nature of this pattern will produce a super warm and cozy hat - you’ll want to wear it all winter long!
Skills required: knit stitch, purl stitch, knitting in the round, basic decreasing, basic color work.
Material needed:
- U.S. 10,75 (7 mm) - 16 inch circular needle
- U.S. 11 (8 mm) - 16 inch circular needle
- U.S. 11 (8 mm) - double pointed needles
- 1 stitch marker
- Yarn - Yarn Art ALPINE ALPACA (10% wool, 30% alpaca, 60% acrylic) 150g/131yards (120 m) per skein - approx.
- color A (blue pictured) - 75g/65 yards,(100g/87 yards, 150g/131 yards) - 1, 1, 1 skein or Any Super Bulky weight yarn size 6
- color B (pink pictured) - 50g/44 yards,(60g/53 yards, 70g/61 yards) - 1, 1, 1 skein or Any Super Bulky weight yarn size 6
Gauge: US 11 (8 mm) needle - 11 stitches x 14 rows = 4 x 4 inches square in stockinette.
