Early spring bring a series of weather changes where I live. You can get a few days with warm and sunny weather, followed by a sires of rainy, gray and coldish (clammy I would say) days. This little scarf in plushy and warm brushed alpaca is just the thing for layering in such weather. Made with only one ball of the suggested yarn, it folds up into basically nothing, it’s nice and warm around the neck (and much softer than mohair). The linen in the composition keeps this yarn very drapey and gives it strength while keeping the price much lower than it would happen with silk.
The scarf starts with a 10 stitch cast-on that forms the lace border. When the border is long enough, the stitches are picked up from its straight edge and the body of the scarf is knitted in stockinette stitch and short rows, ending with a short garter border and a crocheted bind off. You can easily make the scarf longer or shorter by varying the length of the border (and obviously using more or less yarn). The central construction is easy to adapt. The repetitive border, stockinette center and small size make this scarf a perfect traveling pattern.

Da queste parti la primavera porta una serie di rapidi cambiamenti di clima. Ci sono giorni sereni e tiepidi seguiti da diversi giorni piovosi, grigi e umidi. Questa piccola sciarpa in è stata realizzata con un solo gomitolo filato garzato in alpaca soffice e caldo. Piegata non occupa spazio ed è piacevole e calda attorno al collo (e molto più morbida del mohair). Il lino contenuto nel filato ne aumenta il drappeggio e la resistenza, anche senza aumentarne il prezzo come farebbe la seta.
Per la sciarpa occorre avviare solo 10 maglie, con le quali si forma il bordo a pizzo. Quando il bordo raggiunge la lunghezza desiderata, le maglie vengono riprese dal suo margine e la parte principale della sciarpa è lavorato a maglia rasata e ferri accorciati, terminando con alcuni ferri a maglia legaccio e un intreccio decorativo all’uncinetto. Modificare la lunghezza della sciarpa è molto facile (ovviamente, usando più o meno filato). La costruzione del centro è facile da adattare. Il bordo ripetitivo, la parte centrale a maglia rasata e le piccole dimensioni rendono questa sciarpa perfetta da lavorare in viaggio.
