This flouncy little shawl was directly inspired by Pinkie Pie, the fun-loving, party-throwing, smile-spreading pony from the most recent television incarnation of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. The construction is simple: a half-circle in stockinette stitch with stripes every four rows. This is not a pi shawl construction, having increase rows more frequently to prevent puckering of the firmer fabric. The ruffle at the end is meant to stick up and out, so blocking is optional. This is a small shawl (or shawlette) and therefore best fit for children, though it could be enlarged with more increase rows and extra yardage.

You will also need about two dozen pony (pun intended) beads for embellishment. I chose blue and yellow beads, the colors of Pinkie Pie’s cutie mark, but you can go wild and, most importantly… HAVE FUN! :D
