The Soap Saver Bag
Anyone that uses bar soap knows that the little left over pieces at the end get really difficult to use. They slip out of your hand and skate all around the sink or shower.
With a soap saver bag, you can easily use up all of your bar soap until the very end! Just pop the slivers and pieces into the bag, tie it closed, and use it as a self soaping loofah. You can even use the loops to hang it up to dry if you don’t have a soap dish.
This pattern is very easy and adaptable. The instructions are written for a small soap saver bag, but by following the notes, you can easily change the design yourself for a bigger bag. You could also adapt this pattern to fit whole soap bars. This can make using bar soap in the shower easier and more accessible, since the crochet cover allows for a better grip. You can even use the loops as a wrist strap.
Almost the entire thing is made with double crochets, so it crochets nice and quick and easy.
The double crochets naturally leave little spaces between the stitches, so the soap flows easily.
The pattern calls for a 2 mm crochet hook and DK yarn, but this is only to ensure a nice and thin fabric. If you don’t have such a small hook, or you don’t mind a spongier fabric, feel free to use a different hook or yarn.
