The Souvenir

While on our annual family beach vacation to the Outer Banks in North Carolina I got to go to my favorite beach yarn shop, Yarn and More, where I bought this beautiful souvenir yarn. The white and blue speckled yarn combined with the deep blue reminds me of the ocean.
As I was pondering a design for this lovely Malabrigo yarn I kept thinking of the foamy waves emerging out of the deep ocean. Mohair seemed the perfect fit for the foam at the break of the wave.
This shawl is triangular, knit from the small point and gets wider as you go. There are 4 sections consisting of two garter, one lace, and one brioche. It is a great project for those new to two color brioche knitting as the brioche section has no increases, decreases, or patterns within the brioche knitting.
I had a great time dreaming up this design, as well as, knitting it! It is the perfect combination of interesting and relaxing knitting. I hope that you enjoy the knitting process and dream of waves crashing on the shore as you knit. May that image relax you as it does me!
