The Soap Sack is knit flat from the base to the drawstring top. After completing with an I-Cord BO, it is seamed down the side and base. The washcloth is knit corner to corner. The pattern includes both charted and written instructions.
Techniques used: Knit, purl, increasing, decreasing, cabling, seaming, I-cord BO.
Sizes:
Soap Sack: Regular (Large) - Approximately 3” (4”) W x 5.5” (6”) T to fit a 4-5.5 (8-9) oz oval or rectangular soap bar
Washcloth: Regular (Large) - Approximately 6.5”x6.5” (9”x9”)
Yarn: Knit Picks Cotlin DK:
Soap Sack: 50 (60) yds; Washcloth: 55 (65) yds
(NOTE: If substituting yarn, please note that this yarn is thinner than a traditional DK yarn. Thin DK/sport weight yarns work well as substitutes, Also, for best results, use a yarn with good stitch definition.)
Needles:
Soap Sack: US 3 straight; Washcloth: US 4 straight
(Note: Sharp tipped needles work best.)
Gauge:
Soap Sack: 6.5 sts x 8 rows = 1 inch in St st.
Washcloth: 5 sts x 8 rows = 1 inch in St st.
Notions: Stitch markers; tapestry needle; cable needle
