Knitting Pattern, The Spiral, Cabled Crown Pillbox Hat

Length: 7.0 to 7.5 inches (18-19 cm)
Circumference: elastic brim, measures 24.5 inches (62 cm) without elastic adjustment

Instructions are written for one size and the brim circumference is adjusted with elastic band to any adult head size, from small to x-large.

Materials:

• Medium weight (4), approximately 2.5 oz (70 g) taupe color worsted wool yarn used.
• For hat knitting, one US size 9 (5.5 mm) circular needle, OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE
• For cable design: one US size 9 (5.5 mm) double-pointed or cable needle to hold sts;
• For crochet brim: Crochet hook, US 8 (5.0 mm), and 30 inches (76 cm) long and 0.25 inch (0.6 cm) wide elastic band of similar color (if not available, white for lighter color yarn, or black for darker color yarn)
• Tapestry needle

GAUGE
17 sts and 22 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) on size US 9 (5.5 mm) knitting needle
