The Squircle Join As You Go Blanket
The blanket tutorial is here at my blog. This is a free tutorial not a pattern download. There is lots of pictures to help you and I’ve tried to make everything as simple as possible.

The grey yarn I used for the pictured blanket was 8 balls, and the circles were oddments of the organic yarn. You are not limited to this yarn but it was made as a gift and I always use this yarn for baby blankets as gifts….something about it being organic that I love. Anyway with that it turned into a tutorial. The blanket is 32 inches x 27 inches and a bigger blanket can be made by of course making more squares or just doing a bigger border.
The border can be made by changing your hook down to a 3.5mm one….continue doing 3 double crochet stitches as per a granny square….keep going around the blanket until you’re satisfied with your rows, I did 7 for this blanket. The scalloped edging is a simple, single crochet then 3 chains into each space created by the last row of double crochets. The final row to create the scalloped effect is to crochet into each chain 3 space firstly make a single crochet, then a HDC, then 2 x double crochet stitches, then back to a HDC and then lastly a single crochet, you do not do a chain in between each scallop, you go straight into the next chain 3 space and start again. Blocking is essential on completion. Enjoy. Vx
