The Starry Archer
Fingerless gloves are a favorite accessory, perfect for keeping you warm and your fingers free. The name is inspired by both the swirling stitch pattern, reminiscent of Van Gogh’s Starry Night, and the goddess Artemis who is handy with a bow. The yarn overs and stitch decreases give the entire glove interest without being overly complicated.
The yarn and stitch pattern paired together create a garment that isn’t overly stretchy. The pattern stitch repeat is worked over 14 stitches. Three repeats measure 6 1/2 inches. The piece will stretch, comfortably, to fit up to a 7 1/2 inch wrist. To accommodate a larger wrist, I recommend either adding a 4th repeat by casting on an additional 14 stitches (2 1/4 inches per repeat) or going up needle sizes.
Both Charted and written instructions are provided.
This pattern was updated as of 1/23/14. Please download the latest version of the pattern or see Pattern Errata below.
Pattern Errata for versions prior to 1/23/14.
The written instructions for the thumb gusset are correct. The thumb gusset chart shows only 13 stitches after row 20, instead of 14. This will be corrected in the next pattern revision to show 14 stitches after row 20.
