This project is near and dear to my heart. Stone Harbor is a beach town in New Jersey that my husband’s family has been going to for over 40 years. This past summer we brought our own little family there for a week to continue the tradition. Inspired by the tide rolling in and the beautiful shells that dot the sand, this fingering weight scarf took shape right there on on the beach with my toes in the sand. It is the perfect project to have in your project bag and pick up when you’re craving a few moments of solitude with some gorgeous hand dyed yarn. I hope that this will be your perfect beach knitting project.

With three distinct stitch patterns, each reflects a part of the beach:

Garter sections -> the sandy beach
Lacy diagonals sections -> the tides rolling in
Eyelet sections -> the shell dotted sand after low tide

Made in fingering weight yarn, this exaggeratedly long scarf can be wrapped around multiple times for added warmth or worn loosely as a statement piece. Tassels complete this fun piece and add a bit of fun to your wardrobe. A scarf made of fingering weight yarn is a time commitment but once complete, you will understand the luxury that is a lightweight but warm piece!
