This is a lovely, simple pattern for a baby\toddler sun hat. Made in either a 4ply cotton for the 6month (16inches) DK cotton for 12 month (18 inches) and aran weight cotton for the 24 month (20 inches) it is very cute, stylish and also robust! Machine washable and fine to shove into a change bag just before dashing out of the door. Pull it out half an hour later and it’ll still look good on, unlike fabric hats which crease.

It has a solid top to protect delicate heads from the sun’s rays and an open-work section lower down to help keep the wearer cool. The brim is wide enough to provide shade but not floppy so it won’t get in your eyes.

This is a very comprehensive pattern which would be suitable for a beginner/intermediate. You will need to know how to make a magic circle and work in the round. (there are lots of tutorials on You Tube if you need help with these). There are no seams to sew up here!

The pattern is written in UK terminology.
