Go warm or go home!

You’ll score big with this great sweater made by Canadian designer Holli Yeoh using the very special Hat Trick hockey yarn, orginally developed for River City Yarns by Ancient Arts Yarn. Your favourite young person (from birth to 12 years) will love wearing their team colours at the game, or during a pickup game on the street. It’s oversized, and the loose fabric makes it comfortable to wear in the arena as an outer layer that’s sure to keep them warm.

It’s a quick knit, too. With large needles and fingering weight yarn, it will be off your needles and ready to wear in no time. We’ve paired up the sporty Hat Trick yarn with a solid to create a team jersey effect. And, the Garter stitch bands and a unique hybrid three-needle bind-off combined with pick up and knit means there’s no sewing. The sample shown is knit in Hat Trick colourway: Canada and is trimmed in Louet Gems: black discontinued, try Ancient Arts Socknado Backcheck.

It’s one for the win!

This knitting pattern includes written directions, schematic with measurements, thoughtful details, and photo of sweater laid flat.

Construction
The pullover front and back are worked in pieces from the bottom up. Shoulders are shaped with short rows and joined with a Three-Needle Bind Off. Sleeves are picked up and worked top down with a few short rows creating a modified cap.

All pieces are joined without sewing. The contrasting bands of Garter Stitch that join the pieces are worked by picking up stitches along one selvedge and then a modified combination of pick up and knit and Three-Needle Bind Off is worked on the adjoining edge.
