This pattern is great for beginner knitters! The Thomas Hat is knit in the round using a pattern motifs of 12 stitches.
As written, it may fit an infant aged 6-12 months, but the pattern contains notes for modification to fit all sizes.
The pattern as written has a 3” ribbed brim, which is folded in half (to 1.5”). The total length of the hat with the brim folded is 7”, with an approx. 18.5” circumference. For an adult hat, you may size up to 20-22” circumference on average and increase the completed length to 9”-11” on average. It is recommended to create a gauge swatch to determine how to implement the modification notes. The gauge for this pattern was created with medium (4) weight yarn and size US 8 knitting needles.
This pattern includes a chart for decreasing rows.
Other recommended materials include a yarn needle and stitch markers.
