The Three Sisters: MOIRA
E’ disponibile anche la versione PDF in italiano
This is a great and quick knit, perfect for the skein of yarn that wants to speak for itself. The beauty of garter and stockinette stitch help to show it off.
Moira: first shawl of a series of three. I’ve “translated” into knitting the personality of my sisters and myself. We are very similar (the shawls will have the same shape) but, at the same time, very different (the stitches will depict differences). Moira is my youngest sister and she will always be my little sister. I find it very hard to accept that her date of birth tells me she is a woman! She is a wonderful woman with a joy for life that is contagious. When I’m next to her I feel the love (the color red) and the comfort (garter stitch). She can be a very sophisticate woman (the elegance of the stockinette stitch) then switches to a strong girl (the garter stitch again) while helping my father complete farm chores. The design of the shawl alternates between stockinette and garter the way my sister alternates her personality as needed.
Pattern includes written directions. It’s a great design for showcasing a variety of yarns from solid to variegated.
Construction: This shawl is worked in a triangular style, top down but, several locations of increases create a wide scarf/shawlette. The final shape it’s not a Triangle :-)
