This is a fully customizable mesh and garter poncho. Sample is shown on a 5’2” model with 15” sleeve length (hitting just below elbow), 26” length from shoulder to tip, and 31.5” deep v neckline. Three sizes are suggested with instructions for customizing the arm length by manipulating the number of increase rows, and the neckline by manipulating the number of shoulder rows.
This piece is worked flat and seamless. It starts at the front tip, increasing until the desired width is achieved. It is then divided for the neckline. Both shoulder panels can be worked at the same time with separate working yarn. Once the desired neckline size has been reached, the panels are rejoined and decreases are worked along the spine, ending at the back tip.
Both blocked and unblocked gauge is important as working this piece in the recommended yarn will result in a piece that grows significantly when wet blocked. Wet blocking is recommended to open up the mesh stitch.
Materials needed: 8 stitch markers (1 distinct), tapestry needle, blocking pins or wires
