Welcome to the world of generative knitting; same hat different every time!

This pattern is for a unique Scatter Ombre Hat for your needles; the chart is created by a formula-based spreadsheet so it’s different everytime! This means each hat you create will have its own distinct, randomized ombre effect, yet the overall structure and fit remain consistent. Think of it as a fingerprint for your headwear – uniquely yours, yet comfortably familiar.

The chart transitions from dark at the bottom to light at the top.

Included in the download is a link to an online excel spreadsheet, also available online here (File > Print in the excel menu). If you do not like the chart generated, just recalculate (F9) and try again! Of course if this is too much, I have also included a scatter chart in the pattern PDF (it just will not be truly unique).

The ladderback jackard technique is recommended if using highly contrasting yarns as there are likely some some long floats to carry at the start and end. There is a extra jackard chart version of the chart included that details the stitches that will be on the needles for the colourwork section. Ladderback jackard is not essential, but really helps the high contrast colours pop.
