“The Valley of Sunflowers” is a fingering weight, symmetrical triangle shawl worked back and forth from the top center to the bind-off. The shawl’s body is worked partially with garter stitch interrupted with simple “yo” stripes and partially with the lace pattern. The shawl is finished with garter stitch border with fringes.

SIZES
One size
Top edge: 170 cm / 68”.
Depth: 70 cm / 28”.

YARN
For this shawl you’ll need about 780m / 854y of fingering weight yarn divided into 2 colors as follows:
C1 – 390m / 427y and C2 – 390m / 427y.
Note that the yardage is approximate and depends on gauge.

For my shawl I used:
C1 - Woollala Sock Merino ( 75% Wool - Merino, 25% Nylon / Polyamide; 420m / 459y per 100g ) in “Leśne szepty” ( “Forest whispers” ) colorway;
C2 - Woollala Sock Merino ( 75% Wool - Merino, 25% Nylon / Polyamide; 420m / 459y per 100g ) in “Golden Honey” colorway.

NEEDLES
3.25 mm (US #3) circular needles ( 80 cm / 32” long ), or size needed to get the right gauge.

ADDITIONAL MATERIALS
4 stitch markers, removable maker (optional), row counter (optional), tapestry needle for weaving ends.

GAUGE
22 sts and 44 rows = 10x10 cm / 4x4 “ - in garter stitch worked flat with 3.25 mm (US #3) needles, after wet blocking.
Obtaining the correct gauge is not necessary in case of this project, however all differences will affect the finished size of the item as well as the required yardage. If you are using a yarn 400m / 437y long it is better to make a swatch to check the gauge - if your gauge will be looser than given one, it may turn out that the amount of yarn is insufficient.

“The Valley of Sunflowers” to szal z włóczki o grubości „fingering” w kształcie symetrycznego trójkąta. Szal dziergany jest w tę i z powrotem od jego środka w kierunku brzegu z zamknięciem oczek. Jest on wykonany częściowo ściegiem francuskim z kilkoma paskami w kolorze kontrastowym a częściowo ściegiem ażurowym i zakończony bordiurą z ściegu francuskiego wykończoną frędzlami.

4 markery do oczek, marker agrafkowy (opcjonalnie), licznik rzędów (opcjonalnie), igła dziewiarska do chowania nitek.

PRÓBKA
22 o. i 44 rz. = 10 x 10 cm - ściegiem francuskim mierzone na płasko, wykonane na drutach o grubości 3.25 mm, po blokowaniu na mokro.
W przypadku tego projektu nie jest kluczowe uzyskanie prawidłowej próbki, jednak wszystkie różnice wpłyną na końcowy rozmiar szala oraz zużycie włóczki. Jeśli używasz włóczki o długości 400m zalecam zrobienie próbki – jeśli będziesz dziergać szal z luźniejszą próbka niż podana może okazać się że 400m to niewystarczająca ilość.
