The Veronese Purse is a knitted version of the vastly popular crocheted corded purses of the 1930s and 1940s!
This purse is knit in the round in pieces and joined together seamlessly -- in fact, the only small knit seams that are required are to attach the handle and tab at the top!

The circular pieces of the Veronese purse are lined in felt, with a very simple whipstitch application that even a novice hand stitcher can do in under an hour! The pattern includes a photo tutorial of how the lining is done. The band in between them is knit using the linen stitch, which is a very inelastic and sturdy stitch that creates a fabric far more similar to a woven fabric. I tested this bag out with a couple little items as well as some thicker, heavier pieces, and it still maintained it’s lovely circular shape! Huzzah!

The bag is made using a mercerized cotton to mimic the look of shiny cordet that would have been used in the 1930s. It also makes the bag washable, so it’s a win-win!
