The Very Basic Hat
IMPORTANT! Please, read the entire description before making a purchase.
This is the pattern for a unisex color block beanie hat.
The hat is worked bottom up, in one piece, using slip stitches only.
We start with Contrast color and chain the necessary number of stitches for the rib height (rib height should measure 5-6cm / 2-2.5in). The rib is worked flat, in turning rows, in 1x1 crochet rib stitch, till we reach the necessary length, and is then joined/seamed with a crochet hook. Then, we start working in rounds from the edge of the rib.
We keep working with Contrast color in woven crochet stitch till the piece measures around 10cm / 5in, then we switch to Main color. We keep working in the woven stitch with Main color, making gradual decreases as we go to provide a neat shape. Then, the top of the hat is shaped with invisible decreases.
This pattern is a constructor, and I DO NOT PROVIDE specific numbers for any size. You can use any yarn you want and a suitable hook and adjust the size as you go by consulting your head circumference measurements and simply trying the hat on. However, my recommendation is to use fingering to sport weight yarn (about 175-120m in 50g or 190-134yds in 1.8oz) and 3-4mm crochet hook. Working with thinner yarn is really exhaustive, and bulkier yarn might require some additional adjustments due to changes in proportions.
