As I celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Through the Loops, I find myself thinking back to my little house a hill in New Jersey, where I lived when I began my designing adventure. Many of my early designs were photographed there. I don’t live there any more, and although I love my new home, I sometimes miss that stunning view. This shawl is named for my beloved view from that hill.
This crescent shaped shawl is delightfully soft in Old Maiden Aunt’s Merino Silk 4 Ply. The two color lattice gives way to a broad border of pretty lace leaves. Increases are worked on both right side and wrong side rows.
The View From the Hill may be worked in any weight yarn, but keep in mind that the heavier the yarn, the more yarn you will need. The sample shawl used approximately 330 yards of MC and approximately 190 of yards of CC of Old Maiden Aunt Yarns Merino Silk 4 Ply. Be sure to allow extra. Amount of yarn needed will vary with slight differences in personal gauge, yarn weight, fiber, and brand (even within same yarn weight category).
Note: the lattice stitch opens up a lot with blocking, be sure to block your swatch for the most accurate gauge measurement.
