The Villager Shawl
Perfect for Fall, the simple leaf patterning affords a wonderful opportunity to show off your hand painted yarns. Kerchief, shawl or full sized wrap… this surprisingly easy shawl knits up easily to any size you desire.
Finished Measurements and Yarn Requirements will vary based on your yarn & needle selection as well as chosen number of Body Chart repeats. As a general guide I offer the following:
Finished Measurement:
Smaller (2 repeats of body chart) - Width: 35” Length at Center Back: 17”
Medium (3 repeats of body chart) – Width: 46” Length at Center Back: 22”
Larger (4 repeats of body chart) - Width: 57” Length at Center Back: 26”
Yarn Requirements:
Smaller (2 repeats of body chart) – Approximately 200 yards of worsted weight yarn. (1 skein)
Medium (3 repeats of body chart) – Approximately 310 yards of worsted weight yarn. (2 skeins)
Larger (4 repeats of body chart) - Approximately 440 yards of worsted weight yarn. (2 skeins)
Shown in Cascade Yarns, Cascade 220
(220 yards, 100% wool, hand painted).
Recommended Needles:
Size 8 (5mm) 32” or longer circular needle
Supplies:
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends.
Row counter and stitch markers may be helpful.
Gauge:
Approximately 19 sts = 4” (10 cm) in lace pattern, after blocking, however, gauge is flexible and can be adjusted to your personal preference and yarn/needle selection for this project. Bear in mind that yardage needs will differ.
