INTRODUCTION
I fell in love with a vintage pattern and I wanted to make it.

The original pattern asked for needle size 1.5 mm, which was too much for me to handle! So, I decided to rewrite the pattern for a bigger needle size. Since I was anyway doing that I decided to make this exercise into something more: write down the instructions and make them available for those of you who enjoy the elegance of this vintage knitting!
I wrote down exactly what I did and asked some friends to look at the pattern and if they liked it, to try to follow the instructions and test knit it. Three of them tried and (eventually) succeeded, however it was obvious from their feedback that the pattern was not for the faint hearted. Especially sewing all the pieces together was found to be quite a task!
This is why I decided to release this as a FREE pattern – it is a challenging pattern with an unusual construction and quite demanding when it comes to the finishing touches. But I hope some brave knitters will find the courage to try to assemble this puzzle also! I know I love my “vintage puzzle”!

SKILLS REQUIRED / TECHNIQUES USED
Regular cast-on and bind-off
Judy’s magic cast-on
Working flat on circular needles
Picking up stitches
Seaming / sewing pieces together

YARN
450 grams of sport weight yarn. I used bits and bobs of GGH Wollywasch and fonty Ambiance for my original sample (120m / 50g)
Other knitters used Moeke Yarns Heritage, De Rerum Natura Ulysse, Essential Merino DK.

NEEDLES
3,5mm circular needle. For a neat finish of the neckline, use 2,5mm circulars.

SIZES
Size S only.
Finished chest circumference 90cm, length from neck to hem is 54cm. Sleeve length 31cm measured from underarm.
