The Violeta Wrap
First a word of caution: This is not a full pattern written out in traditional form. This is my pattern notes, diagrams for the basic pattern, increases, and decreases, and tips and tricks to create your own version of the Violeta Wrap. Your own yarn needs, type, hook size, and garment size and shaping can be altered by you to fit your needs exactly by using the notes and making adjustments where you need. There will be math. There will be measuring. There be swatch making, washing, and blocking. This pattern allows you to make a garment specific to your style and size needs with the yarn and hook size of your choice. I used about 1000 yards of lace weight yarn to make a wrap about seven feet across and twenty-five inches deep. You will have to determine your own yarn needs based on the yarn you personally choose for this project.
This diaphanous wrap uses a fuzzy yarn to create a soft, whisper light wrap that is warm for cold weather and open enough to wear on summer evenings. It can be made in lace yarns without the halo, as well, for a crisper look. The open mesh is suitable to be used alone or with added embellishments like crochet motifs or beads. With my pattern notes and information, you can take this basic idea and create your own perfect shawl. There are diagrams for the basic pattern, the increases, and the decreases that you can use for this wrap or your own project. If you are up for a bit of designing fun, come along!
