The Vivienne Top
The Vivienne Top is a versatile piece that showcases the v-stitch. This lace top is great for casual wear and layering. The top is worked in one piece from the waist up and can be made in long or cropped (pictured) length. The square neckline and thick waistband flatter a range of shapes.
The top is worked in the round until armhole shaping, where it is divided for front and back. Front and back are worked flat and then rejoined at shoulder seams. Sleeves are then worked in the round from the armhole edge.
The pattern is written in US terms.
Gauge:
5 V-sts across and 8 rounds up measures 4in (10cm) square, laid flat and unstretched after blocking
2 rounds of V-sts measures 1in (2.5cm)
You will also need:
5.5mm crochet hook, or size needed to obtain gauge
4 removable stitch markers
Darning needle
Sizes: 36”-52” chest.
- The finished chest circumference is measured with the top laid flat and unstretched. Because of the openness of the fabric, the top stretches widthways when worn.
Sample shown: cropped version in size 2 on a mannequin with a 40in (102cm) chest.
