The Wallace Wall Hanging is created using the overlay mosaic technique.

The National Wallace Monument is a 67-metre tower overlooking Stirling in Scotland. It commemorates Sir William Wallace, a 13th- and 14th-century Scottish hero.

I grew up just 12 miles from here, and I could see it from my house – it’s that big. Being a proud Scot, I decided it was time to honour William Wallace in my own way.

This wall hanging would look great in monochrome, or multi-coloured. Just remember to shout Freedom when you’re crocheting it.

The PDF has 3 easy to read charts (with X’s for DCs) for each pattern included, and corresponding written instructions.

Two PDF’s are available - one using US terms and one using UK terms.

You can use any yarn and corresponding hook you like for this pattern, just remember a tighter tension is better for mosaic crochet.

For my example, I used Kinross 4ply (100% superfine lambswool) from Wee County Yarns.

• 2 x 50g hank of Scots Pine for Colour A (205m per 50g)
• 2 x 50g hank of Porridge for Colour B (205m per 50g)
• 3mm hook
• The size with a small 2-row border will be approx. 32cm wide x 55cm tall
