Named after my father, the idea of the Walter Hat came to me after he repeatedly asked me to make a hat using my his alma mater colors. Having the sports gene skip my generation, I had little interest in knitting freaking neon orange. Also, not wanting my hat to look like a plush road cone, I set out to make a hat with a secret.

Little did I know that it was going to become so popular among my friends. This hat became the perfect solution to add a fun pop of that variegated yarn that you have left over from another project.

I hope you have as much fun making and wearing this hat as I did designing and teaching it. Happy Knitting!
