The Wiener Hat
My son has been asking for replacement wiener dog hat since he was a toddler (someone had given him a factory made one with a wiener dog on the front). I finally charted one up and stretched the body around the hat and knit a few prototypes. From one side, it’s a striped hat, from the other - a wiener dog. You can choose to wear your wiener to the side, front or back (I rock mine on the side). Using worsted weight yarn, you can choose either a picot edge, or 2 by 2 ribbed edge. I have also provided instructions for a mitred top decrease or a traditional “swirl” decrease. The chart is 17 rows, so it’s not a rigorous colourwork project. It’s fun! Afterwards, you can embellish your hat using duplicate stitches as you please, with a heart, a black nose, a collar, or a bow on the head!
Note: I knit these hats on a 40 inch long circular needle, magic-loop style. You may prefer to knit it on a 16 inch circular, switching to double points at the crown when stitches get too tight.
