This sock pattern is great for someone who is interested in learning how to knit socks. By using worsted weight yarn, you can more easily see the stitches and the socks knit up much faster than traditional sock yarns, but the pattern incorporates all of the skills that you will need for making other cuff-down socks in the future!

This pattern, when knit to gauge, will fit most women’s feet in circumference and the length can be adjusted to fit your foot.

You can easily make this into a boot sock by knitting the leg as long as you like. You will need to have 150g-200g of worsted weight yarn to make a mid-calf length sock.

Many worsted weight yarns do not have added nylon for strength. I have found that with the thicker worsted yarns socks tend to wear longer, better simply because of the thickness of the yarn. However if you are concerned about durability you can get reinforcing thread to add to the heels/toes of your socks. There are some companies, such as Regia, that do make worsted weight sock yarns.
