Theban Letters Collection U / V / W
about the pattern
The Theban alphabet – also known as witches alphabet - is a writing system. Its letters are used as substitution cyphers. Its origins are unclear but it is used at least since the 16th century by philosophers, alchemists and in different forms of witchcraft.
I initially designed these knitted letters as part of an afghan project I started for myself and now decided to share them with other interested knitters. More letters will follow over time but I decided to publish the vowels first.
This letter is used for “U” “V” and “W” The Theban alphabet does not make a difference between them except for the fact that “W” is often depicted by two “V”s following each other.

Using the suggested yarn, you will need about half of your skein. Of course you can use any other yarn, too, but this will affect the size of your square.
Gauge should be somewhere around 25 stitches and 34 rows in stockinette stitch but if you do not match it exactly do not worry chances are it´ll work well anyway.
As allways, if you have any problems with this pattern you can find help in my group ( http://www.ravelry.com/groups/north-of-the-needle ) or send me a message.
