Like good Jazz, this pattern is meant to be riffed on and improvised. I started designing this garment with the beginner knitter in mind, but realized as I went along that it would be an enjoyable knit for knitters of all levels. I invite you to make it your own! It can be made with any gauge of yarn you like and with your most favorite needle size. The stockinette sections can be made wider or narrower depending on your preference. And the eyelet sections for which the pattern is named can become a more prominent feature if you so choose.

This pattern is the melody. It can be made by following the directions as written, or, be made to suit the garment’s creator by adapting, embellishing, and riffing on each section to create a unique piece of art influenced by the pattern, but, individual to its creator…YOU!
